Circumcision on the Sabbath!

In my opinion, the question Jesus asked the Jews, when He was attempting secretly to attend the Feast of Tabernacles, is as pertinent today as it was then: “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath that the Law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath? Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:23-24 NASB).
As you might remember, He framed this question around another: “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you carries out the law?” (John 7:19a NASB). The truth is there was probably not one person in His audience who would have admitted that he did not carry out the law, but truth does have its own way of removing the veil that blinds us to it.
Ironically, the Jews were angry with Jesus because He healed (perfectly, healed) a man on the Sabbath, but were fine with themselves for circumcising a man in order that the Law of Moses might not be broken. Does this mentality not remind you of the community of believers of today?
It is very sad that most, even today, prefer to learn from the Law of Moses, rather than from Jesus. If you should visit Macon, GA, where I live, you would see this evidenced by the number of churches that have a list of the Ten Commandments posted on their lawns for all to see. It is as if the Ten Commandments are the object of their worship, not Jesus. In my opinion, it would be more fitting, if they would attach a codicil to the Ten Commandment sign, one that would read: “NOTICE: We know we cannot follow these, so we have decided simply to love God and to love people, even our enemies. Won’t you join us?”
          You think about this-

"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent" (John 6:29 NASB).
